Day 27: Foreign

Walking through the airport always made him nervous. Although there were plenty of people all around him, he felt like he stood out like a sore thumb, like a red flag in a sea of white. He felt invisible eyes on his back and his shoulders tensed.

Waiting in line to go through security was the most nerve-wracking part of this endeavour. He was a significantly large man, and so he always tried to make his presence as small as he could manage. Like an elephant trying to be a fly on the wall.

The woman behind the metal detector beckons him through, he holds his breath… and she ignores him, her attention already on the next person. He just walks through and is told to grab his stuff off the conveyor belt. He lets out a large sigh of relief, and with shaky hands collects his carry-on baggage.

Until next time.
